Easter Egg Hunt 2008

Children and youth are an important part of our community at East Lincoln Christian Church.  We are committed to nurturing children into the love of God through their full inclusion in the life and mission of this congregation.  Some of the programs and activities involving children and youth are listed below, but you may also take a look at our calendar for a list of upcoming events.  If you have questions or would like more information, call the church number listed below or e-mail us at elcc.youth@elcchurch.org.

God's Garden -  ELCC has a large garden area in our back yard.  In the past, ELCC youth have been responsible for helping to maintain one or more of the plots, and have donated the items grown to a local food program for people in need.

Nursery - Our nursery for children three and under is staffed by a regular volunteer during our regular Sunday service at 10:00am, and during most special events.  Carolyn Kinton, our regular care giver, has been a long-time member of ELCC, and co-chairs our Fellowship Ministry at the church. Children older than three are encouraged to join the whole church community in worship.

Children in Worship - Worshipping God is the "main event" for any church community.  We have found that  children in our midst enhance our services of worship.  They remind us of God's love for all people.  The children learn quickly how to be part of our family of faith.  They like sitting with their parents, and sharing this important time with them.  At first parents may be nervous about how their children might distract others, or be a distraction from their own worship.  We put a flier in the back of every pew with tips for parents on worshipping with their children.  Click on the link above to see the flier on kids in worship.

Sunday School - Our Sunday school classes meet from 9:00-9:55am.  We have classes for early elementary through senior high, and a discussion class for adults as well.  Sunday school classes are generally held September thru Memorial Day.  The last regular date for Sunday School this spring will be May 22.

LOGOS -   Wednesdays are lively days at ELCC from mid-September through early April.  Our Logos program involves children and youth (early elementary through high school) with adults from the congregation in an experience of building a Christian community.  Children enjoy recreation, learning together in Bible time classes specialized for their appropriate age or group, worship, serving together in music/worship time, and experiencing the joys of family and fellowship with a shared supper each week.  Click here to learn more about our LOGOS ministry.

Kamp Kaleo -  Nebraska Disciples partner with the United Church of Christ to share the church camp program at Kamp Kaleo in the sand hills near Burwell, NE.  Each summer members of ELCC head to Kaleo to experience Primary Camp for early elementary;Junior Camp, Junior High Camp, Senior High Camp, and Focus Camp (an arts camp for Junior and Senior High). We also have members who've been counselors, camp nurses, and companion campers for people living with disabilities who go to Adventures in Community camp.  Click here to learn more about Kamp Kaleo.

Trunk or Treat - Kids come from the neighborhood and all over town to make their way from trunk to decorated trunk in the church parking lot.  In addition to safe trick-or-treating, there's always some extra fun like face painting or bobbing for apples.  Check our calendar for the exact time and date.

Kindermusik - Three mornings and one evening each week, instructor Shawna Gordon teaches classes at ELCC. If you would like more information about Shawna's classes, please contact her directly at 402 - 770 - 1486.

Scout Troops - East Lincoln regularly hosts a number of scout troops from Maxey School.
