Children and youth are an important part of our community at East Lincoln Christian
Church. We are committed to nurturing children into the love of God through their full inclusion in the life and mission of this congregation. Some of the programs and activities involving children and youth are listed below, but please take a look at our calendar for a list of upcoming events. If you have questions or want more information, call the church number listed below or e-mail us at elcc.youth@elcchurch.org.
Nursery - Our nursery for children three and under is staffed during both of our regular Sunday services and during most special events. Mary Kate Sievers, our regular care giver, loves children and they love her. Children older than three are encouraged to join the whole church community in worship.
Children in Worship - Worshipping God is the "main event" for any church community. We have found that children in our midst enhance our services of worship. They remind us of God's love for all people. The children learn quickly how to be part of our family of faith. They like sitting with their parents, and sharing this important time with them. At first parents may be nervous about how their children might distract others, or be a distraction from their own worship. We put a flier in the back of every pew with tips for parents on worshipping with their children. Click on the link above to see the flier on kids in worship.
Sunday School -
Taught by people who love kids and love God, our Sunday school classes meet from 10:10- 10:50 am. We have classes for kids pre-K through senior high, and a discussion class for adults as well. Sunday school classes are generally held September thru Memorial Day.
LOGOS - Wednesdays are lively days at ELCC from mid-September through mid-April. Our Logos program involves children and youth (pre-school through high school) with adults from the congregation in an experience of building a truly Christian community. We laugh together in recreation, learn together in Bible time classes (by grade level, or grouping levels), worship and serve together in music/worship time, and experience the joys of family and fellowship with a shared supper each week. Vacation Bible School (VBS) - Each summer ELCC conducts a theme-based Vacation Bible School. For 2008 Bible School will be a Beach Party!! Neighbors, friends, grandkids... K- 5th graders will have a great time learning stories from the Bible in the midst of a whole lot of fun. For more information on dates and times, please take a look at our calendar.
Kamp Kaleo- Nebraska Disciples partner with the United Church of Christ to share magnificent church camp program at Kamp Kaleo in the beautiful sand hills near Burwell, NE. Each summer members of East Lincoln head to Kaleo to experience primary camp for early elementary; junior camp, jr. hi camp, sr hi camp, and focus camp (an arts camp for jr and sr hi), We also have members who've been counselors, camp nurses, and companion campers for people living with disabilities who go to Adventures in Community camp. Trunk or Treat- Kids come from the neighborhood and all over town to make their way from trunk to decorated trunk in the church parking lot. In addition to safe trick-or-treating, there's always some extra fun like face painting and bobbing for apples. Check our calendar for the exact time and date.
Easter Egg Hunt- We love having a big back yard where the whole neighborhood can gather for fun. Easter-time finds us hiding lots of eggs and welcoming kids to come enjoy a romp in the spring. Everybody goes home from this egg hunt a real winner.
Kindermusik- Shawna Gordon uses ELCC as one of the locations for teaching Kindermusik classes. Two days a week our building's busy with little children learning and loving music.
